Hunson Abadeer is the vocalist in tonight’s AT-themed song. Every episode with Marceline’s dad suggests that he’s not as bad a guy as he seems at first. The Lord of Evil might really be The Lord of Not-So-Evil. I wondered how a full apology to Marceline might sound, and I imagined a whole scene for an episode; the audio post includes dialogue, a rap, and an apologetic ballad. There are loads of direct quotes and references to Ooo in the lyrics that true AT fans will enjoy. I dedicate this audio to my friend and fellow artist over at davidthejoyner. He suggested I write a song about Abadeer to pair with an epic GIF he’s working on. Keep your eyes peeled for his work, due to come out very soon. So, I was at the East Coast Game Conference, and my dumb friend made me go to a Perspective Drawing session. Now, I’m not a toddler, so I understand drawing in perspective; for some reason, I hoped that we would be shown some interesting techniques or references. Turns out no. It was lame.

So this dude made us draw like a BILLION circles, and eventually I was all, “BALLS ON THIS,” and started just filling them in with faces. Well, all but one anyway. One is a butt.

I'll try to make this as stupid as possible. I see based on your first couple of posts that I'm going to like you a lot. Not only because I love art, painting and drawing, Adventure Time, and all the Jazz. I noticed that the way you "type it up" is similar to the way I express myself in a way. I'm looking forward to your updates and hope tumblr helps you grow more as an artist. So here's my question... Have you done the cinnamon challenge? Just Kidding. I forgot my real question.

Uh, the cinnamon challenge? Is that the one when you eat four boxes of Cinnamon Toast Crunch in a single sitting? Because yes, I’ve done that.

OH, that crap about ingesting a spoonful of pure cinnamon? No. Cinnamon’s expensive (is it? I don’t buy cinnamon) and I can’t afford throwing spoonfuls of it down my throat just so I can become a Youtube superstar.

….further more because i was in my Jake The Human costume! lots of people wanted to take my picture…i buckled at times they asked me what time it was, when the obvious answer was that it was ADVENTURE TIME! so note to self…when in cosplay, be in character X] you wouldn’t want to disappoint X]

Holy NUTS! Over the weekend, my followers more than DOUBLED. Them’s some big numbers, yo.

Well it’s really nice to meet all of you. I’m still finding my place here, so I’m not exactly updating super-often yet. Not everything I plan on doing will be Adventure Time centered, but there will be a hefty bunch. In fact, I’m already working on a new Gif! Can you believe it? Like I don’t have a life of my own.

A bunch of you have sent in questions and messages and I’m responding to all of them, but most of them won’t be public. If you make me feel really nice though, I’ll wanna brag, so it’ll go on up right away.

You guys all seem really nice and, for the most part, very clean. I’m hoping we’ll be together for a long, long time.

This might be stupid...I'm trying to try/learn more about animation, right now I'm just doing basic drawing stuff, and that's it. How do you recommend I break into animating things? What tools do I need for the first attempt (also I am mostly broke so any cheap or free programs are awesome). ps your stuff is really fun. I love the Ron Swanson!

So I use Flash, but as you know, Flash costs moolah. If I were to recommend a FREE program for animation, I guess I would probably suggest Pencil. http://www.pencil-animation.org/

It’s not perfect, but it’s free. Plus it uses vectors AND/OR raster images, so you can mess with either if you’re not comfortable with one.

I’ve heard good things about Synfig, but I don’t know much about it. http://www.synfig.org/cms/

There are definitely options open to you. Oh, and if you don’t have one, you should definitely get a tablet. A cheap one would work fine. In fact, I’ve been working on an old Wacom Bamboo for a few months because a lousy friend sat on my Intuos and broke it. He’s a jerk. We don’t talk much anymore.

I’m still sort of… new to 2D animation. I’ve experimented in the past and am well versed in 3D, but only in the last month or so have I begun working with frame-by-frame pieces. Here are some things that I know: Plan everything. Sketches, thumbnails, blah blooh blee blah. If you’re going into a big animated piece, plan it all out. If you’re doing a dumb gif like I did, a couple of sketches wouldn’t hurt. For me, the biggest thing I’ve ever learned is timing; timing is everything. If you’ve got good rhythm, then you can probably handle that. Feeling out actions and movements plays a massive role in whether a piece is successful. Understanding when events can and should occur, or how long an action needs to go on, or when to slap a butt is crucial to the viewer’s enjoyment and emotional investment.

If you wanted a book to look into, I’d seriously recommend The Animator’s Survival Kit. The whole book is written by the director of animation for Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and not only is it insanely comprehensive, but even the TEXT is handwritten. It’s like getting your hands on his personal notebook!
